I had heard ALW said that it was good and thought, well must be good. I rented it from the library (thank God I didnt buy it) and I could barely read it. However, I am the person who when I start a book, I must finish it. So I pushed myself through the pain of it and returned it as soon as I can, renting out the original novel again to save my brain.

Am so glad that the author was cut from the stage sequel.

Well, I finally bought this book yesterday and will read it tonight to see if it's really as bad as everyone says.
(It figures, I look for it for months at this one Hastings in Altus I usually go to and I walk in the one in Yukon one time and I find it!)

Thanks to the wonderful Tiannaangel for my sig!

I myself have never read it, I have thought about it but from what I've seen everyone else say, I'm thinking otherwise

Well, I read the Prolouge and have started the first chapter.
The main problem I had with the prologue was that Forsyth acts like the ALW musical is the only true adaptation and everything else is wrong. I hated the way he criticized Leroux for the way he wrote the book.
So far the first chapter's ok. Not great, just ok.
The only 2 things I'm confused on are:
1) Erik's deformity. I thought it was only one side of the face. This book makes it sound like the whole face but one little section. That's not right!
2) In the musical, Madame Giry says he escaped, in this book she went and freed him. What's up with that?
I'll see how much more I can get read today.

Update:
OK, I finished the book and my final conclusion is: It read like a novelization of Love Never Dies.
Erik wearing a clown mask. I busted out laughing at the stupidity of it. Kind of felt sorry for Raoul, he got the raw end of the deal, not being able to father kids. The different veiwpoints were interesting, the last chapter should've been in Erik's POV, not some random reporter's. In short, this will not be a book I read very often.

Thanks to the wonderful Tiannaangel for my sig!
