BUT... it's nice to not be the only person here who remembers Carol Burnette. (Please take this as the cheers it's meant to be) but its lovely not being the resident old fart around here anymore, lol.
I used to watch the Carol Burnette show with my family every week. I was young enough though that I didn't get all of the jokes. Going back and watching it now I sometimes wonder what my parents were thinking to allow me watch it. But then again I guess they trusted in my naiiveity at the time, and since I didn't get the dirty joke, they were apparently right to do so.
Whatever happen to television than truly understood the beauty of physical comedy and comedic timing ... *le sigh*
Daroga - in the words of the lovely Christine Daae : "you are not alone!"
I think I laugh harder now over the skits than I did then, but there were plenty of episodes that got to all ages...like the Siamese elephants (if you ever want to hear yourself scream with laughter, look that one up on YouTube - Tim Conway and Vicki Lawrence.) I can remember my mother and I just DYING from laughing so hard when it first aired. Im the same as you though - listening to them now I am a little amazed at how much DID fly right over my head.
Additional - I guess I should have mentioned that the YouTube I just posted was a parody that Julie and Carol did of the Phantom of the Opera. Goofy, but fun!
Another additional: someone apparently didnt tell Julie to keep her hand at the level of her eye - you'll know it when you see it!
