Hmm... I like them both a lot for different reasons. Rains has the older, gentlemanly and paternal quality, while Englund has the violent nature as well as a dark and macabre sense of humor, and all are important parts of Erik's personality. I think I'll go with Englund now, though. But my choice may change depending on my mood. Heh heh...

Sarah Brightman as Christine

Sierra Boggess as Christine?

They have very different styles. Boggess sounds more operatic to me, which would suit the setting. Brightman has more of a "pop" voice, reminiscent of Joan Baez and Judy Collins. For the role of Christine, I'd choose Boggess because she does sound as if she would perform in operas.

I can choose only by voice, as I haven't found clips of Brightman on stage except when she's older. I don't know if she uses the same mannerisms as Boggess.

Ouch! I'm far too analytical, right?

The Phantom of the Opera (1925)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)
