Very tough choice. I love the ALW stage musical, as it is what first made me a Phan, but I also love the Leroux and Kay novels, and the ALW film. Oh, the pressure!!! (rolls dice) Okay, it's the Leroux novel for me! :D

Kay's novel. It was a hard choice between that and ALW's movie, but if you've read Kay's novel, you know how gorgeous it is. That's all I have to say. :)

My favourite version is the play (especially when John Owen-Jones is concerned) but I also love the Robert Englund version which is what I voted for in the poll :D

Robert Englund, huh? I've never had the opportunity to watch it...but I am stocking up on Phantom/Gerry films and books for my birthday. I already have Progeny, Phantom of Paris, The Jury, Dear Frankie, and (hopefully) the animated Phantom film on hold. I might have to go check out Enguld...

WOOT for differentiating opinions!

The Robert Englund version isn't too hard to find... And usually not too expensive. I've seen it, new of course, at Best Buy for $10. I rented it, but if you're interested...

I also wish I could see the Ken Hill musical. But I don't think it's even playing anywhere... I read a summary of it somewhere, and the ending sounds brilliant...!

Stupid animated version, being $95... Argh...

::Le sigh:: I'm having issues with Amazon at the moment.

My mom bought the 1925 Lon Chaney version, but I haven't watched it yet. I'm waiting until I'm in the right mood to sit through a silent movie. I don't like silence...

I'd say the ALW movie version, of course it's the only version I've seen. Never seen any of the plays or read any of the books, but will soon read Leroux's novel because I just got took it out from the library. But the 2004 film version was just amazing! I really want to see a live stage version, though. I don't care if it's just a high school production. I want to see the play live!
